LAUNCH PROGRAMS

Summer

An Unforgettable Summer!

Big news! The 2025 Launch Summer Camp theme was student-nominated and strictly voted on by our students! Our youth have voiced “Create, Imagine and EXPLORE!” as their guiding theme.

Every year, Launch offers 8 to 10 weeks of expanded-learning programming for children ages 3-12 from June to August. Our Summer Program operates from 8am-6pm at select Launch sites across Seattle and Renton. Families may sign up for the number of weeks that meet their needs.

Our program is centered around a broad theme, with each week focused on deeper engagement of the theme with enrichment activities that expand meaningful experiences for youth.

2025 Summer Schedule & Weekly Themes

    • Week 1 (June 25th – June 27th): Ooey-Gooey!
School is finally out and for the first three days of summer our campers will be brains deep in sensory exploration. We will promote learning through hands-on activities that ooze, that glop and gloop. Jello play, gooey mud pies, chocolate fudge, foam dough and silly puddy. Splatter paint, finger paint, or paint with your feet!
    • Week 2 (June 30th – July  3rd): Super Me!
A magical week of cosplay, costumes, and superhero dress up! Create a super-you action figurine with airdry clay, fabricate your costume, write yourself in a comic book or graphic novel series, train with other heroes on a Superhero obstacle course, and pose with your fandom in a Comic-Con photo booth!
    • Week 3 (July 7th – July 11th): Lights, Camera, Action!
Get ready to unleash your inner diva and experience the glitz and glamour of showbiz! Youth will build skills in self-confidence, communication, teamwork, and emotional expression. Campers will be invited to hold the spotlight and share their talents with others.  This star-studded week of performance art will end with a matinee visit to STG’s Dance This! *SCT with Cascade Vista’s & Highland Park’s oldest camp groups
    • Week 4 (July 14th – July 18th): Can ya dig it?
A week-long exploration of jobs that dig and what they dig for! From construction laborers to excavators. Geologists, archeologists, and paleontologists. Forensic pathologists and anthropologists. Groundskeepers, miners, and environmental engineers. Activities will range in dirt! Kids will create nature sculptures, fossil dig, landscape a garden, scavenger for geodes & gems, visit a construction site or even inspect our own Seattle tunnels.
    • Week 5 (July 21st – July 25th): Blow Out!
DIY hot air balloons, volcanoes, rockets, bubble bombs, and origami torpedo boats. Our mad researchers and crazy scientists will brainstorm, hypothesize, and experiment until they’re blue in the face. *SCT with Kimball & Beacon Hill’s oldest camp groups
    • Week 6 (July 28th – August 1st): Now We’re Cooking!
As a way to teach our youth resiliency, the focus of this summer camp week will be to ‘cook-up’ healthy ways that sustain our minds and body during times of anxiety. We will learn how to juice, sip on fruit smoothies, taste-test fresh ingredients and learn how to regrow veggies from our clippings. Camps will also get a chance to picnic around town and make community recipes that resemble their identities.
    • Week 7 (August 4th – August 8th): Curious Creatures!
An exhibition and appreciation for our furry, scaly, two-legged, exotic or unusual animal friends. Each day we will examine different animals, their habitats, and their behaviors. We’ll create bug jars, learn about adaptation, mimic animal movement, host a friendly animal trivia game for parents, and walk plenty in nature to seek and observe neighborhood critters. *SCT with Madrona’s Oldest Camp Group
    • Week 8 (August 11th – August 15th): Invent It!
Campers will engage in innovation and practice their creativity and problem-solving skills! We’ll challenge students to invent new devices or tools, design new toys, or to create future inventions. They’ll craft wind-chimes, lego zip-lines, and fidget spinners. Youth will build robots and create puzzling mazes to escape from! Students will also wonder out to MOHAI and experience the industrial history of the Puget Sound. Better pack a swimsuit in case it’s hot enough to enjoy the Lake Union Spray park!
    • Week 9 (August 18th – August 22nd): Just Around the Corner!
This week is a celebration of warm weather and the cool PNW treasures that are just a walk away. Washington state is home to mountains, ocean water, forests, deserts and cities. We’ll study these special biospheres, learn about our state symbols, take a tour of a community farm or explore the arboretum, walk to a farmer’s market, and do an outdoor movie/cookout to end the summer. Ahhh, the simple pleasures!
